The photos show some of our distinguished STEAM scholars making volcanoes. Below, Le'Niah Dejesus explains what the project is all about: "This week in STEAM we made volcanoes. We used baking soda, vinegar and dish detergent to create a chemical reaction to represent an actual volcanic eruption. First, we used a water bottle as a base, then covered it in dough to make the volcano shape. We added the ingredients inside the water bottle to make the eruption. The eruption occurred because the chemical bonds were broken and reformed so that the carbon dioxide pushed the mixture out of the bottle." Scholars at TAG involved in STEAM attend twice a week after school.
